CBS 2 Investigators
CBS Chicago is always investigating. With solutions journalism at the core of CBS 2’s brand values, the investigators are arguably the most important journalists in the newsroom. So, shortly after the two 2 Investigators became four investigators it became clear that it was time for a rebrand. The goal when art directing this project was to refresh CBS’s investigative brand identity without losing any of the existing franchise’s recognition.

CBS O&O Stations Weather graphics
In 2019, the CBS Owned and Operated Stations Group began undertaking a new initiative to bring local news coverage into the streaming space. By branching off the already established CBSN brand and working closely with CBS Interactive, many markets began offering a 24 hour stream of local coverage. In order to help streamline the changeover, Chicago took the lead in designing and implementing the weather graphics for the project nationwide. The overall goal in this redesign was to create visually striking, simple, easy-to-understand graphics that feel modern in a digital streaming age and blend seamlessly with the CBSN Local graphics package.

CBS Chicago news
All brands should develop and grow over time as they continue to define their mission and values. In 2019, CBS 2 updated its mission statement, brand values and approach to news reporting. To go along with the new mission, the station’s visual identity was also updated to feel more modern. This refresh spanned from updating in-news templates to redesigning the look of topicals and creating new talent IDs.
